This glossary of ISO 17799 and security related terms and phrases was compiled over a lengthy period, and is provided as a public service. In addition to offering explanation of the terms themselves, the glossary also cross references each with the applicable section of ISO17799 itself.
The project of course will never actually be complete. Terms evolve into common use very quickly, and this is certainly the case in the information security sector.
ISO 17799 GLOSSARY PROJECT
The ISO 17799 Security Glossary is an open project. This means that visitors are invited to submit any information security industry terms that are not already covered. These will be added and cross referenced with ISO17799 in a future revision. Please visit our Feedback Page for submission details.
In the meantime, we trust that the glossary will prove to be a useful resource in explaining some of the language used with reference to the standard. To view a particular definition, simply select the starting letter from above.
